Ponting was proud about his team performance in the ICC tournaments. "Australian teams always are when these sort of events come around, and our record in them speaks for itself. I was really encouraged by what I saw from a lot of the younger guys during the One-day series, in which we had a little bit of a glitch against Pakistan, the last half of our batting, but we rectified that very quickly against England. My expectations have always been very high."
A discussion on allrounder Brendon Diamanti has its merits - Neil Broom hasn't had much to do in the tournament - but New Zealand are not likely to tinker with a winning combination. And the way Elliott came through the semi-final, a big worry for them has been taken care of
